The latest episode of the Longtime Companion podcast is dedicated to the British Film Institute’s LGBTQIA+ film festival BFI Flare. I had the chance once again this year to talk to the one of the festival’s programmer Brian Robinson to tell us all about the festival.
The conversation mainly focused on this year’s edition, we talked more about the festival historically in last year’s episode which you can listen to here. In a post Covid realm this edition we ponder the welcome fact of an increase in trans stories and films of intersectionality, as well a generous focus on films with topics such as ageing, sex work and pornography.
As mentioned in the intro of the podcast, there was a fair bit of noise going around us whilst trying to record our conversation, so apologies for that. To listen to the episode follow links Spotify / Apple Podcast / Soundcloud or click through the link below.
In other news I had the chance to review Brandon Cronenberg’s latest film A Infinity Pool A lusciously cerebral horror sci-fi set in a made-up Eastern European fortified holiday resort which reveals itself to be a place where the rich can ‘commit the most heinous of crimes in a bid to alleviate their boredom and expunge their inner demons, with full knowledge they can clone their way-out’.
